Lord of the Rings
Recently I have been breaking into my collection of audiobooks that I bought a long time ago and have had just sitting around on a cloud drive for years. I found myself in the mood to read some fantasy and figured that I should reread The Lord of the Rings as I had not read the book since middle school. I enjoyed it then but it had been so long since then and I don't believe that I truly appreciated it back then. My first reread of the series has opened my eyes to how truly incredible these books are. I tend to prefer audiobooks purely for the reason that I can listen to them while I drive which is convenient for finishing novels at a steady pace. For a pure reading experience I prefer to read a physical book and that still has not changed, but the reading of Lord of the Rings by Andy Serkis is shockingly good and probably the best narration in any audiobook I have ever listened to. Serkis puts so much emotion into his descriptions of Tolkien's beautifully crafted wordscapes that it really brings the world of the book alive even more. These novels might dethrone Kurt Vonnegut's Breakfast of Champions as my favorite novel ever when I am done with my reread.
